Ρrofessor Ρetros Ρashiardis, Rector, Open University of Cyprus

Professor Pashiardis is the Rector of the Open University of Cyprus. He has served as Professor of Educational Leadership at the Open University of Cyprus, since 2007. He worked as Visiting Professor in a number of universities in the USA (University of Texas), Europe (Lincoln University, University of Thessaly, University of Münster) and Africa (University of Stellenbosch and University of Pretoria). During 2013-2014 he was a Visiting Professor at the Center of Development of Education Leaders at Umeå University, Sweden. Dr. Pashiardis is a member of the editorial boards and reviewer of numerous scientific journals. He published more than 100 scientific papers in English and Greek peer reviewed scientific journals and is the author of a number of books published in both languages. For more than 20 years, he has acted as a Consultant to the Ministries of Education of Cyprus and Greece, the Police Academy of Cyprus, the EU, the OECD and the Commonwealth Secretariat, in various projects, which aimed to provide strategic direction to Education for All (EFA) and Women in Leadership around the Commonwealth. He was Chairman of the Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration and Management (2004-2008) and Deputy Chairman of the Cyprus Council of the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications (2014-2018).

Ο Δημήτριος Γ Σάμψων γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1965. Είναι Διπλωματούχος Ηλεκτρολόγος Μηχανικός του Δημοκρίτειου Πανεπιστημίου Θράκης (1989) και Δρ Μηχανικός του Department of Electronic Systems Engineering, University of Essex, UK (1995).

Υπηρετεί στο Τμήμα Ψηφιακών Συστημάτων ως Καθηγητής (Καθηγητής, Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής, Επίκουρος Καθηγητής) και Εντεταλμένος Επίκουρος Καθηγητής από τον Οκτώβριο 2001. Έχει διατελέσει Καθηγητής και Διευθυντής Έρευνας στο School of Education, Curtin University, Australia (2015-2017), Επισκέπτης Καθηγητής στα: University of Tartu, Estonia (2017), The University of Hong Kong, R.P. China (2016), University of North Texas USA (2013), Beijing Normal University, R.P. China (2013), Peking University, Beijing, R.P. China (2013), University of Tunis, Tunisia (2012, 2013), National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan (2011), Athabasca University, Canada (2010), και Ερευνητής (1999-2003) και Συνεργαζόμενος Ερευνητής (2003-2016) του Ινστιτούτου Τεχνολογιών Πληροφορικής και Επικοινωνιών του Εθνικού Κέντρου Έρευνας και Τεχνολογίας.

Η ερευνητική του δραστηριότητα από το 1996 επικεντρώνεται στην θεματική περιοχή των ψηφιακών συστημάτων που υποστηρίζουν την μάθηση και την εκπαίδευση. Είναι συγγραφέας ή συν-συγγραφέας περισσότερων από 345 επιστημονικά άρθρα σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά, βιβλία και συνέδρια και έχει επιμεληθεί 13 επιστημονικά βιβλία που έχουν δημοσιευτεί από την Springer, 33 θεματικά τεύχη σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά και 37 πρακτικά διεθνών συνεδρίων, με περισσότερες από 5730 ετεροαναφορές και h-index 36 (Scholar Google, Οκτώβριος 2019). Έχει βραβευτεί 10 φορές με Best Paper Award σε Διεθνή Επιστημονικά Συνέδρια για την έρευνα του στο πεδίο της ψηφιακών συστημάτων για την μάθηση και εκπαίδευση. Έχει προσκληθεί ως προσκεκλημένος ομιλητής σε 85 διεθνή και εθνικά επιστημονικά συνέδρια και μεταπτυχιακά προγράμματα από το 2001. Έχει συμμετάσχει ή συμμετέχει σε 70 έργα έρευνας και τεχνολογικής καινοτομίας ως ερευνητής, ως διευθυντής έρευνας ή ως διευθυντής ερευνητικού προγράμματος. Από το 2003, έχει επιβλέψει επιτυχώς 85 μεταπτυχιακούς φοιτητές και υποψήφιους διδάκτορες στην έρευνά τους και έχει καθοδηγήσει 70 προπτυχιακούς φοιτητές στην διπλωματική τους εργασία.

Έχει διατελέσει Chair του IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee in Learning Technology (2008-2011, 2015-2018), Γραμματέας του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της Ελληνικής Επιστημονικής Ένωσης Τεχνολογιών Πληροφορίας και Επικοινωνιών στην Εκπαίδευση (ΕΤΠΕ) (2007-2014) και Διευθυντής Έκδοσης (Editor-in-Chief, 2003-2018) του Διεθνούς Επιστημονικού Περιοδικού Educational Technology and Society Journal (που κατέχει την 5η θέση στην παγκόσμια κατάταξη των Scholar Google Top Publications in Educational Technology). Έχει επίσης διατελέσει ή διατελεί ως μέλος της Συντακτικής Επιτροπής 26 Διεθνών και Εθνικών Επιστημονικών Περιοδικών, Πρόεδρος ή Μέλος Επιτροπής Διοργάνωσης 80 Διεθνών Επιστημονικών Συνεδρίων και Μέλος 600 Επιστημονικών Επιτροπών Προγράμματος Διεθνών/Εθνικών Συνεδρίων.

Το Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) που ανέπτυξε και το οποίο προσφέρεται μέσω του edX (Analytics for the Classroom Teacher) έχει προσελκύσει 18000 συμμετέχοντες από 160 χώρες από τον Οκτώβριο 2016. Από τον Ιανουάριο του 2018, διευθύνει μια διεθνή κοινοπραξία Πανεπιστημίων και Βιομηχανίας (Learn2Analyse) που έχει ως στόχο την προώθηση του Educational Data Literacy για όλους τους επαγγελματίες της Εκπαίδευσης με την υποστήριξη της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής (Erasmus+ Knowledge Alliance Program).

Τον Ιούλιο 2012 έλαβε το IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Service Award και τον Ιανουάριο 2013 του απονεμήθηκε ο τίτλος του IEEE Computer Society Golden Core Member σε αναγνώριση της συνεισφοράς του στο πεδίο των ψηφιακών συστημάτων για την μάθηση και εκπαίδευση.

Τον Σεπτέμβριο 2018 έλαβε το ετήσιο βραβείο Golden Nikola Tesla Chain Award 2018 for International Outstanding Achievements in the field of Engineering Pedagogy από τον Διεθνή Οργανισμό International Society of Engineering Pedagogy (IGIP) για την συνεισφορά του στην αξιοποίηση των Ψηφιακών Τεχνολογιών στην Εκπαίδευση Μηχανικών.

Dr Martin Dougiamas is the founder and CEO of the open-source Moodle software project launched in 1999. He continues to guide and grow the enterprise with the support of 80 employees globally and two major offices in Perth, Australia and Barcelona, Spain.

Moodle LMS (Learning Management System) is Moodle’s best-known product, allowing educators to create a private space online filled with tools for collaborative learning for K-12, higher education and workplaces. First released in 2001, the Moodle LMS is now used in every country around the world by an active community of hundreds of millions of users and is key infrastructure for over 60% of all higher education institutions worldwide.

Moodle LMS is one of a complete suite of open products, including Moodle Apps (for offline and mobile use), MoodleCloud (a SaaS hosting platform with 38,000 Moodle sites), MoodleNet (a new social network for educators), Moodle Educator Certifications (to teach digital competencies), and Moodle Workplace (a special version of Moodle LMS focussed on learning in the workplace).

Martin has a mixed academic background with multiple post-graduate degrees in Computer Science and Education and two honorary doctorates. He continues to focus on researching how open education technology can best support teaching and learning in open and human ways, with a keen interest in helping to produce a generation that can meet the UN’s sustainable development goals.

Recently Martin has started a new initiative, OpenEdTech.global, which he hopes will encourage open source companies to work collaboratively to provide complete, high-quality, ethical, lasting educational technology solutions to power education into the future.
