Cyber Escape Room: Integrating Gamification in Moodle
Georgios Pappas, Adamantini Peratikou

Cyber escape room is a first-person game that gives users the opportunity to train on Cybersecurity
concepts in a virtual 3D environment. The game combines solving riddles in a virtual 3D office space
with hands-on training on an external cyber-range. This in-house cyber-range, called “Threat Realm”, is
linked to the game and can be accessed within it. Both the cyber escape room and cyber-range are
integrated into Moodle which serves as the “go to” platform with instructions and specifically designed
courses and quizzes that revolve around cyber-security training. This presentation intends to showcase
how this award-winning effort works including the generation of automated scoring reports in Moodle.
